Desert Color
Desert Color is a master-planned community on the south end of St. George, built around a lagoon. It has a purely residential section and a separate section where homes can be used as nightly rentals, plus options to buy a spec home or build custom.
What kinds of homes are in Desert Color?
You'll find a mix of home types. Spec homes are move-in ready or close to it, and there are also lots for building a custom home.
Residential vs. nightly-rental sections
Desert Color has a section that is purely residential and a section where homes can be used as short-term rentals. Homes in the rental section don't have to be rented out. Many owners use them as second homes. If you're buying, know which section a home is in before you fall in love with it, because it shapes how you can use the home and how busy the street may be.
The lagoon and other amenities
Buyers are always excited to see the lagoon. Around it there are sandy areas, grassy areas, and even a volleyball court. Desert Color has also added more pools, so there are other places to lounge besides the lagoon.
How crowded does the lagoon get?
It's busy at peak times in summer, no question. The added pools help spread people out. If your budget allows, a home with a private pool gives you your own space, which is why buyers planning a vacation rental for large groups often look for one.
What's being built nearby?
A lot of new commercial development is coming to the area, including a Costco and a growing mix of restaurants and entertainment. Much of it is a golf-cart ride away.
